8vo, frontispiece and 6 monochrome decorations by Rex Whistler, xx+147pp, brown cloth spine. The binding, in hand-marbled boards, by Douglas Cockerell and Son is by the Temple Press. Gilt on brown label, top edge gilt, untrimmed fore and bottom edge. Label slightly chipped, else a very good copy, lacking glassine wrapper. #370/660

One of a series of lush editions of poetry put out by this press post-war illustrated by Rex Whistler or John Piper.

Reginald John “Rex” Whistler was a British artist, muralist, theatre set designer and illustrator. Brilliant in many genres, one of the smart set, died in France in 1944.
